who found the skills they needed to grow their business at the Healthcare Business Institute at Mercury Healthcare International

Plan your next executive leadership training or coaching session or a strategic planning retreat with us

About The Healthcare Business Institute:

Founded in Denver, Colorado in 2012, The Healthcare Business Institute is widely recognized for its superior coaching and training services and its targeted education and training programs for the healthcare industry.

Derive the most out of your training and capacity development dollars as you learn to effectively manage change, improve organizational performance, and enhance your staff's knowledge and capacity.   Because the Managed Care Contracting and Negotiation practice isn’t regulated by a formal governing body, literally anyone can call themselves a managed care expert (and many do!). While there are many courses and certifications available from many different sources, including our own, none of these certifications/designations/accreditations are offered through a state or federally regulated governing board. They are awarded by the company or association offering the course.

Our approach differentiates itself from most seminar companies, trade associations, and traditional educational institutions. We bring a unique combination of strategy and tactical development and practical, hands-on implementation in the form of workshops, seminars, private coaching and small intimate Master Classes with experts working in the industry for over 15-20 years ore more.  We never  seek large numbers in registration. We keep classes small, intimate, focused on practical constructs and always hands-on. For this reason, we tend to avoid the typical seminar company setup, venues and business model. This keeps overheads lower and in turn enables us to set lower, more accessible registration fees at venues with interesting destination experience features.

What you'll notice right away is our deep understanding of the organizational development and training needs assessment processes for healthcare. You'll see rapid and measurable, meaningful performance improvements right away.  It starts with the Aha! moment while you are still in class and continues building over time.

St. George, the new home of the Healthcare Business Institute is an amazing place to learn, relax, vacation, and reflect. Whether you're interested in playing golf, experiencing Broadway in the desert at Tuachan Amphitheater, sightseeing nearby Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks and several state parks and public recreation areas, soaking up the beauty of this red rock country, relaxing under the sun or stargazing away from bright lights and big cities.

The desert climate contributes to generally clear skies, relatively mild winters and hot summers. Visitors enjoy over 300 days of sunshine per year and temperatures vary from a low in January and December of 31°F to 102°F in July. That's why Maria Todd has chosen this exclusive year-round seasonal resort to conduct executive leadership training and coaching and strategic planning retreats for hospital and healthcare executives.

When you attend a retreat with internationally renowned healthcare industry expert, Dr. Maria Todd, you'll stay in luxury accommodations that surpass most airport and downtown hotels and traditional conference venues. And you'll join the alumni of 60,000+ healthcare business leaders who have trained with or been mentored by Maria Todd around the world since 1987.

Maria schedules retreats on dates that shoulder a weekend so you can stay and play and explore the area for as long as possible in this area that is  unlike any other landscape on the planet! This desert paradise is nestled near the mouth of breathtaking Snow Canyon State Park and about 45 miles from Zion National Park,  one of the most scenic destinations in Southern Utah. Kolob Canyon is about 35 miles away, Cedar Breaks is about 90 minutes' drive northeast. Bryce Canyon National Park is about 2-1.2 hours and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is  approximately 3 hours away.  Alternatively, the excitement of Las Vegas is a 90 minute drive south. You can rent a car or hop on a shuttle to or from Las Vegas almost every hour.

Get There

You have two choices of airports: St George Regional Airport (SGU), serviced by American, Delta and United is only 10 minutes away and Las Vegas (LAS) is accessible by door-to-door shuttle service for about $25 per person, per direction. Taxi, limousines, car rentals, Uber and Lyft are all available in the area to get you from the airport to the Inn at Entrada.

You can also use a taxi or Uber or Lyft to explore the area and visit museums, or rent a car and drive to nearby national parks, theater and state and national recreation sites. Budget and Avis are available at the terminal. And if you rent a car, each casita comes with a fully-enclosed garage.

Where You'll Stay

Our guests are accommodated at several locations in and near St George, Utah.  We alternate venues depending on the nature of the event and availability using  Inn at Entrada at Snow Canyon, Red Mountain Resort and the Hyatt Place St George at the Convention Center

There's also a fully-equipped fitness center to keep to your wellness program while you are away from home.  Our special rates include the use of the fitness centers at all locations and wi-fi at no additional charge.

The area

You'll be amazed as you watch the heavens catch fire in a range of breathtaking colors at sunset from the back patio of your deluxe resort accommodations.  We use world renowned, award-winning resorts for our events.  Each of the two resorts are set in a landscape of vivid red rock formations, canyons and cliffs in Southern Utah. Both are consistently voted one of the top hotels in the country, with indoor pools, outdoor pools, spas, and other exquisite features, in an ideal location. Extend your stay and plan a customized adventure to Zion or Bryce Canyon National Parks, or to Snow Canyon State Park, only about a quarter of a mile down the road. Tuachan Center for the Arts also offers professional theater about a half a mile down the road, so always check the website for what's playing while you'll be in town.

But long after the last drop of twilight fades to black, the next phase of the the earth's rotation begins to shine. It is a part of the 24-hour cycle that many developed places have lost to the constant shine of the cityscape — most Americans live in an area where they cannot see the Milky Way due to lighting from cities but you'll have the best seat in the theater of the stars as you experience the brilliance of the starlit desert sky on your patio. They call this "astro tourism" because you have to travel away from the city to see it.

The conversation, the networking and the opportunities to share ideas, experiences, and create together - this is really what brings value to these exercises - value that cannot be realized in a webinar format.  It is also why Maria Todd prefers the direct-teaching model instead of webinars for classes lasting longer than 90 minutes.
